Wells is the home of the Emigrant California Trail Interpretive Center, where you can relive life
on the California Trail.
In 1869 the Central Pacific Railroad founded the town at Humboldt Wells on the California Trail. The cow town
connected Spruce Mountain and White Pine County's mines to the railhead and packed Front Street saloons
with gamblers, railroaders, ranchers and bullwhackers.
Today casinos, art galleries, a golf course, airport and a car show draw thousands keeping Wells lively.
At the I-80 & US 93 intersection, Wells is the jump-off point for California-Oregon Trail sites, Baker City, Idaho, Jackson Hole, Salt Lake City & Park City, Utah, Yellowstone, and points elsewhere. Casinos! Real Cows! Real Cowboys! Some of the best hunting/ fishing west of Mississippi. And, of course, being Nevada, no personal income tax and the interstate speed limit is 75 mph.
Visit Angel Lake for a spectacular climb and view or see the Metropolis Ghost Town.
