BOULDER CITY

Boulder City came into existence with the construction of Hoover Dam, at 726.4 feet from bedrock to crest, the highest concrete dam in the country. An elevator descends 506 feet through the dam to the terrazo-tiled balcony which leads to the power plant.

Visitors can view the U-Shaped powerhouse at the foot of the dam and the penstock, a huge pipe through which water rushes to turn the generators.
